There has been an undercurrent in every conversation I have had with Carolina Panthers fans this year. Maybe that’s being generous to the team, as it has been the direct subject of half of those conversations: nobody expects much of the Panthers.
That’s not a ‘this year’ expectation so much as it is a ‘until they prove otherwise’ expectation. Six-plus years of losing without a tangible flash of hope will do that to a fan base.
