Panthers React to Protest in Uptown Charlotte

Protests erupted in the home of the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday, spilling over into Wednesday after police in search of a suspect, killed a different man. An officer shot and killed Keith Lamont Scott, 43, on Tuesday afternoon near the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Scott was armed and failed to comply with officers’ commands according to reports.

Sixteen officers were injured overnight during the protests and at one point demonstrators blocked both lanes of Interstate 85, a major thoroughfare around Charlotte. Night two of protests led to more violence in uptown Charlotte and resulted in one civilian-on-civilian gunshot injury.
