The Panthers have always been known as a run-first team. Whether it was Stephen Davis, DeAngelo Williams or Jonathan Stewart, Carolina has always had a solid stable of backs that they’ve been able to hand the ball off to and move downfield.
Last season saw the Panthers have another successful one on the ground as they amassed a total of 2,282 yards (142.6 yards per game), good for second in the league, and 19 total touchdowns, to tie for first. The bulk of that yardage came from Stewart who in his first season as the lead, workhorse back rushed 242 times – the most in his career – and came just 11 yards shy of his second 1,000 yard season as he hit 989.
