The Carolina Panthers announced Thursday afternoon that quarterback Cam Newton is on the mend after undergoing arthroscopic shoulder surgery to repair a partially torn rotator cuff.
Dr. Pat Connor performed the surgery on Newton's throwing shoulder at Carolinas Medical Center in uptown Charlotte.
“Dr. Connor was pleased with the results of the surgery, and Cam is at home resting,” said Panthers head athletic trainer Ryan Vermillion. “He will begin his rehab program Monday."
Newton suffered the injury last season in Week 14 against the San Diego Chargers. The 2015 NFL MVP played the remaining three games of the regular season following the injury.
