“I enjoyed it, but it’s over and done,” the 37-year-old Smith said after the Ravens suffered a 27-10 loss to the Bengals to end the season. “I know it’s my time.”

In 16 seasons, Smith amassed 1,031 receptions for 14,731 yards and 81 touchdowns. He ranks seventh all-time in receiving yards.

“When you think about Steve’s career and what he’s been able to do in this league, you can’t help but be proud of him,” linebacker Thomas Davis said.

The Panthers selected Smith in the third round of the 2001 NFL Draft. He spent 13 years with the franchise before spending the final three years of his storied career with the Ravens.
