Panthers place centers Kalil, Gradkowski on IR

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- The Carolina Panthers on Tuesday placed Pro Bowl center Ryan Kalil and backup center Gino Gradkowski on injured reserve.

Kalil missed three of the last four games with a shoulder injury and Gradkowski on Sunday at Oakland re-injured his knee that forced him to miss a start.

The Panthers (4-7) will go into Sunday's game at Seattle with Tyler Larsen or Ryan Wendell as the likely starter. Larsen never played center in an NFL game before replacing Gradkowski on Sunday.

Carolina on Tuesday signed Wendell (6-2, 300), who played seven seasons with New England from 2009-2015.
