Charlotte, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers on Wednesday announced that the team’s 2016 captains will remain the same as last season.
Three representatives on defense – Thomas Davis, Luke Kuechly and Charles Johnson – and three offensive leaders – Ryan Kalil, Cam Newton and Greg Olsen – will captain the defending NFC Champion Panthers.
Davis enters his sixth-consecutive season as a team captain, followed by fourth-year representatives Kalil, Kuechly and Newton, and third-year captains Olsen and Johnson.
Panthers head coach Ron Rivera informed the team of its captains – voted on by the players – Wednesday morning before heading to the airport for Denver.
