Panthers' Kuechly returns at full speed for training camp

Spartanburg, S.C. — Carolina Panthers All-Pro linebacker Luke Kuechly suited up in pads Saturday morning for the first time since early February.

Kuechly injured his shoulder in Week 17 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but played through the injury during the team’s run to Super Bowl 50.

The three-time Pro Bowler led the team with 29 tackles in the postseason and returned two interceptions for touchdowns in back-to-back games.

Following the team’s loss to Denver in the Super Bowl, Kuechly underwent surgery in February to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder.

Head coach Ron Rivera said on Wednesday that Kuechly – and Kelvin Benjamin, who is returning from at torn ACL – would be full participants when training camp opened in Spartanburg, but the team would be careful about not rushing the process.
