CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Alabama’s Cam Robinson didn’t hesitate last month at the NFL combine when asked if he was the best draft-eligible left tackle.
“Definitely,’’ he told reporters in Indianapolis. “Next question.’’
The next question for the Carolina Panthers is does the 6-foot-6, 322-pound Robinson make sense with the eighth pick? And how much will his off-the-field issue in May impact his draft status?
General manager Dave Gettleman apparently saw and heard enough at the combine to use one of his 30 pre-draft visits on Robinson. According to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, that visit occurred on Monday.
