Panthers injury update: Key player misses Panthers practice with ‘medical issue’

The Carolina Panthers’ first injury report of the regular season doesn’t come out until Wednesday, so at least for now there won’t be any further explanation of Curtis Samuel’s absence from practice Tuesday.

“He’s dealing with a medical issue,” coach Ron Rivera said of Samuel. “He saw the doctor today, so we’ll wait to see what the doctor has to say.”

The receiver has dealt with several issues since Carolina selected him in the second round of last year’s draft out of Ohio State.

First, there was the ankle injury sustained in a Week 10 victory over the Dolphins which landed him on season-ending injured reserve.
