CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Carolina Panthers have plenty of reasons to be concerned after a 1-3 start, beginning with the health of reigning NFL MVP Cam Newton.
Newton is questionable for next Monday night’s NFC South game against Tampa Bay (1-3) after suffering a concussion in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 48-33 loss at Atlanta.
It typically takes a minimum of about seven days to receive clearance from the concussion protocol, so the extra day between games gives Newton a chance. But there's no guarantee Newton will be cleared. Middle linebacker Luke Kuechly missed three games last season with a concussion.
