Carolina Panthers safety and captain Kurt Coleman was injured during the 33-30 victory over the New England Patriots on Sunday. Near the beginning of the second quarter Coleman sustained a knee injury and was unable to return.
Backup safety Demetrius Cox filled in during Coleman’s absence and Colin Jones saw action when Cox was removed with an injury in the fourth quarter. Fellow veteran safety Mike Adams and Cox competed well against the passing attack of Tom Brady and the Patriots.
However, with Coleman’s knee injury being diagnosed as an MCL sprain the captain is expected to miss about a month for recovery.
