CHARLOTTE – The Panthers shored up their depth at linebacker in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft by selecting Maryland’s Jermaine Carter, who led the Terps in tackles for three straight years.
Carter, a three-time Honorable Mention All-Big Ten, posted 90-plus tackles from 2015-17 while starting 37 games at middle linebacker.
The 6-foot, 228-pound Carter is nicknamed “Pee Wee,” a moniker he earned when he was growing up outside Washington, D.C.
