Panthers defensive end Brian Burns has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week after his breakout performance in Carolina’s 20-0 win over the Lions in Week 11.
Burns terrorized the Lions with two sacks, a tackle for loss and four quarterback hits in the Panthers’ shutout win last week. Defensive coordinator Phil Snow has been saying for weeks that Burns would eventually break out, and it looks like the stat sheet is finally starting to catch up to the havoc he has wreaked on a weekly basis.
He leads the Panthers with 6.
