Panthers D-coordinator joked he wanted to jump out of a plane in Week 4

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott laughed on Tuesday when asked what the plane ride was like after his unit gave up 571 yards in a 48-33 loss to Atlanta in Week 4.

“I wanted to open the window and jump," he said, laughing on the outside but still stinging inside from the scars that game left. “How’s that?"

For McDermott, who usually chooses his words carefully so as not to overstate or understate anything, that speaks volumes.

But so did Carolina’s 26-15 victory Monday night over the Washington Redskins and the NFL’s third-ranked offense.
