Charlotte, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers claimed defensive tackle Toby Johnson off waivers Thursday afternoon from the Minnesota Vikings, according to the team’s official website.
Johnson appeared in two games last season for the Vikings and tallied two tackles.
The University of Georgia alumnus was signed as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2015 by Tennessee, where he spent time on the Titans’ practice squad. Johnson has also made stops with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears’ practice squads before signing with Minnesota in 2016.
Carolina waived linebacker Kyle Kragen – one of three players signed after the team’s rookie minicamp – to make room on the 90-man roster.
