CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers safety Tre Boston took a deep breath as he thought about Christian McCaffrey needing only 67 receiving yards in Sunday’s season finale against New Orleans to become the third player in NFL history to gain 1,000 yards rushing and receiving in the same season.
Boston seemed on the brink of tears.
“A lot of guys are asking was it a wasted season because of how bad we’re playing and how well he’s playing," Boston said after Carolina (5-10) lost its seventh straight game on Sunday in Indianapolis.
