CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Steve Wilks is putting together an impressive résumé in his first year as defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers.
Carolina moved up a spot to second in total defense with Sunday’s 17-3 victory at Tampa Bay, holding an opponent without a touchdown for the fourth time in eight games.
The Panthers (5-3) moved up two spots to ninth in scoring defense, allowing 17.8 points a game.
They maintained their spot at second in the NFL in sacks with 27, getting three more against the Bucs.
If he keeps this up Wilks, who interviewed for the head coaching position with the Los Angeles Rams during the offseason, may not be around long.
