The Carolina Panthers claimed quarterback Brad Kaaya off waivers on Sunday afternoon, Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer reported.
Kaaya, a pro-style passer out of Miami, was drafted by the Detroit Lions 215th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft, but was cut earlier this week.
Kaaya started all 38 games in three years at Miami, finishing as the Hurricanes' all-time leading passer with 9,968 yards and 69 touchdowns with 24 interceptions.
Carolina released its third quarterback, dual-threat Joe Webb, earlier this week.
The Panthers also claimed safety Demetrious Cox off waivers from Cincinnati. Cox, who played safety for Michigan State, had signed with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent.
