Spartanburg, S.C. — The Carolina Panthers announced Sunday afternoon that Bruce DeHaven is transitioning to the role of senior advisor to special teams while he returns to his offseason home in Buffalo to receive cancer treatment.
DeHaven, the former special teams coordinator, will assist in planning and advanced special teams work, according to the team’s official website.
“Bruce is going to return to Buffalo, and he is going to continue on his therapy right now as he battles cancer,” said Panthers head coach Ron Rivera. “Bruce wanted to do this; he came and talked to us after the game [against Baltimore] and felt that now was an opportunity for us to transition, so that it would be seamless.
