Alex Armah heard his name called in the sixth round of the NFL Draft just last spring. The Carolina Panthers selected the utility athlete as a potential fullback, a position he played in high school, but also signed veteran Darrel Young for competition.
Armah became the second ever player drafted from West Georgia University after fellow collegiate linebacker Dylan Donahue was selected by the New York Jets in round five. The former linebacker, defensive end and tight end immediately fit in with Carolina and now has a grand opportunity.
After edging out Young and initially making the 53-man roster, Armah was almost immediately waived to make room for players at other positions.
