Spartanburg, S.C. — The Carolina Panthers on Tuesday signed defensive end Tom Lally, who participated the team’s rookie minicamp in May, according to the team’s official website.
Carolina waived injured defensive tackle Chas Alecxih and wide receiver Tobias Palmer to make room for Lally on the team’s 90-man roster.
Lally was named D3football.com’s National Defensive Player of the Year after recording 82 tackles and 20 sacks as a senior in 2015. He is Mt. Union College's all-time leader in tackles for loss (67.5), tackle for loss yards (329), sacks (42) and sack yards (273).
Alecxih exited practice in Spartanburg on Sunday with a knee injury.
