Charlotte, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers acquired veteran punter Andy Lee Monday afternoon in a trade with the Cleveland Browns, according to a team press release.
Carolina dealt its fourth-round draft pick in the 2018 NFL Draft and punter Kasey Redfern for Lee and Cleveland’s 2017 seventh-round pick.
The Westminister, S.C., native is a three-time Pro Bowler and first-team All Pro selection and currently ranks sixth in NFL history with a 46.2 gross punting average.
Lee set Cleveland single-season records last season with a 46.7 gross average and a 40.1 net average. Twenty-five of his 70 punts landed inside the 20-yard line.
