The Carolina Panthers and Jacksonville Jaguars were both 2-2 heading into today’s game and both wanted to pick up a win to get over .500 for the first time this season. Carolina came out firing on all cylinders and took a 7-0 lead after their first drive through superstar running back Christian McCaffrey.
The two teams traded touchdowns back and forth for the rest of the first quarter, and then the Panthers defense forced Gardner Minshew to fumble and Brian Burns returned it for a 56-yard touchdown to give the Panthers a 21-7 lead. The defense let the Jaguars back into the game and held a 21-17 lead at halftime, but never surrendered the lead and did just enough at the end to hold off a valiant comeback effort from Jacksonville to send the hometown fans away happy with the team’s third straight win.
