The Carolina Panthers made a real statement of intent with the signing of free-agent quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. The popular figure will now be tasked with leading the franchise through a period of transition under new head coach Matt Rhule.
This represents a significant vote of confidence in Bridgewater’s ability to make another go of starting in the NFL. He signed a three-year, $63 million deal that included a $15 million signing bonus and $33 million guaranteed. And this will come with its own pressure going forward.
Things will not be easy for Bridgewater or the Panthers in 2020.
