In an unsurprising move, new owner David Tepper has decided to part ways with a longstanding member of the Panthers staff. Team attorney Richard Thigpen has been relieved of his duties as reported earlier by Darin Gantt at Pro Football Talk.
Thigpen had been with the team for over 20 years, and there may have been another reason behind the firing besides Tepper wanting “his people.” It’s entirely possible that Tepper is trying to steer the organization away from Jerry Richardson’s legacy, as Thigpen becomes the second member from Richardson’s regime to leave the Panthers since the sale was finalized.
