Last year the Carolina Panthers selected two players in the fourth round of the NFL draft, tight end Ian Thomas (No. 101) and edge rusher Marquis Haynes (No. 136). I recently wrote about the curious disappearance of Ian Thomas this season, so let’s be more positive today and highlight the progress of Marquis Haynes.
Carolina saw enough potential in the Ole Miss prospect to trade up 11 spots to get him, giving away a sixth round pick (No. 197) in the process. But Marquis was largely invisible in his 2018 rookie season and played just 46 defensive snaps across four games.
