Linebacker Thomas Davis: Steve Wilks is ready to replace Sean McDermott as coordinator

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Pro Bowl outside linebacker Thomas Davis says secondary coach Steve Wilks is “ready and prepared’’ to take over as defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers.

Wilks will replace Sean McDermott, who on Wednesday was named the head coach of the Buffalo Bills. An official announcement on his promotion could happen as soon as Friday.

Davis said McDermott and Wilks are similar in that both are “aggressive, fiery guys.’’
