Every season, members of the 1972 Miami Dolphins (the only team ever to go undefeated in a NFL season) get together and toast the final team to be beaten. Now, the head coach of that group hopes they don’t get a chance to do that again … for a very personal reason.
Don Shula recently gave an interview where he expressed his hope that the Carolina Panthers, currently 8-0 this season, can go the whole way and win it all with a perfect record:
“That would make me so proud if that happened,” the elder Shula said, via Scott Fowler of the Charlotte Observer.
