Lance Taylor expects busy combine looking for slot receiver, promoting Christian McCaffrey

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- New Carolina Panthers wide receivers coach Lance Taylor will be searching for a pure slot receiver when the NFL combine kicks into full gear on Wednesday.

Other teams likely will be searching Taylor out with questions about Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey.

When Taylor's not pitching McCaffrey as a candidate for the Panthers with the eighth overall pick, that is.

Confused? Don't be.

Taylor coached McCaffrey the past three seasons before being hired to replace Ricky Proehl at Carolina. Few, if any, know the 6-foot, 201-pound all-purpose back better.

Few, if any, are higher on what McCaffrey will do at the NFL level.
