CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers defensive end Julius Peppers broke his silence with the media Friday to announce he's donating $100,000 to support relief and recovery efforts from Hurricane Florence in his home state of North Carolina.
The Bailey, N.C., native said his family wasn't hit hard by the storm that wreaked havoc on North and South Carolina, but he eventually wants to visit the areas that were severely impacted. He also wants his teammates and others in the community to join him and Foundation for the Carolinas in their relief effort.
Peppers, 38, followed the storm path closely last week as the Panthers (1-1) prepared to face the Atlanta Falcons.
