Tight end Greg Olsen enjoyed the best years of his career with Mike Shula as Carolina’s offensive coordinator. From 2014-16, Olsen was named to three consecutive Pro Bowls and became the only tight end in NFL history to record three straight 1,000-yard seasons.
But head coach Ron Rivera felt it was time for a change. Shula and quarterbacks coach Ken Dorsey – like Olsen, a Miami alum – were relieved of their duties.
“You have a professional relationship and you also develop a close personal relationship,” Olsen said. “Those guys have been great for my career and great for me personally.
