One kick, especially during the first regular season game, rarely defines an entire season. However, for Carolina Panthers kicker Graham Gano last year’s miss in Denver led to a loss and disappointing 2016 season.
After facing the Broncos in the Super Bowl, just six months prior, Carolina had an opportunity to earn their first victory of the new season with a 50-yard field goal by Gano – he missed wide left and the Broncos won, 21-20.
Gano’s season was statistically his worst in a Panthers uniform after four relatively successful campaigns. The veteran Panthers kicker connected on only 78.
