CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Former federal prosecutor Mary Jo White has been hired by the NFL to lead the investigation into allegations of workplace misconduct by Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson, commissioner Roger Goodell said on Wednesday from Super Bowl LII in Minneapolis.
White was a top prosecutor in New York City before being named by former President Obama to head the Securities and Exchange Commission from 2013-2017.
Goodell said White already has begun her investigation into Richardson, who according to a Sports Illustrated article paid off at least four former employees in exchange for silence involving allegations of sexual harassment and the use of a racial slur with a former team scout.
