Former Duke quarterback Anthony Boone was released from the hospital Saturday after suffering serious injuries in a head-on collision with Carolina Panthers linebacker Shaq Thompson.
Boone's agent, Adam Sattler, told the Charlotte Observer that Boone had surgeries for a broken hip and damage to the tendons and ligaments in his hand. The accident happened May 22 after police said Thompson stated that he dropped his cell phone and was reaching down to get it when he crossed the centerline as the two cars approached from opposite directions in Weddington, North Carolina.
"He's got a serious road ahead of him, but we're happy he's home," Sattler told the Observer.
