Less than a week after being cut by the Carolina Panthers, Charles Johnson will rejoin the only NFL team he’s played for.
According to a league source Tuesday night, Johnson plans to re-sign with the Panthers this week after the team cut him in an effort to save $11 million in cap room.
ESPN first reported that Johnson would be back. The source said Johnson’s one-year contract is worth $3 million.
Johnson, a nine-year veteran, signed a six-year contract in 2011 worth $76 million. This would have been the final year of that deal, which would have cost $15 million against the salary cap.
