Charles Johnson, Mike Tolbert follow their hearts back to the Panthers

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Carolina Panthers credited an extraordinary locker room culture with getting them to Super Bowl 50.

They’ve taken steps in free agency to maintain that culture for another run by re-signing defensive end Charles Johnson and fullback Mike Tolbert.

Johnson and Tolbert were two of the leaders that helped create the culture that retired defensive end Jared Allen recently described as “zero drama."

That both returned for less money than they could have gotten elsewhere speaks volumes to the environment coach Ron Rivera and his staff members have created.
