CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A closer look at the new contracts of Carolina Panthers defensive end Charles Johnson and fullback Mike Tolbert:
Johnson: He signed a one-year deal worth $3 million that includes a maximum $1 million roster bonus -- $62,500, for every game he is on the game day 46-man roster. He will count $2,562,500 against the 2016 salary cap.
Comment: Talk about bargains. Johnson was scheduled to count $15 million against the 2016 cap before the Panthers released him to clear $11 million in cap space.
