Ron Rivera may have left the Carolina Panthers, but his mark will remain with the team and its fanbase for years to come. As a first time head coach, he beat the odds to survive for a nine year career with the team and left any number of indelible memories in the process.
One of my favorites has more to do with the fans that it does any one thing Ron did. As frustrations mounted in his later years, fans grew more vocal about how dispassionate he was on the sidelines. A lack of visible emotion, they would say, implied that he didn’t care and would therefore be unable to inspire his players.
