Only one game remains before the Carolina Panthers (1-2) begin cutting their 90-man roster down to 53 players and for those on the cusp of making the team, it could be the most important. While the Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers, along with a majority of other NFL teams, won’t play many (if any) of their starters tonight, this game affords a final opportunity for everyone else.
Carolina still has a few cloudy areas in terms of backup opportunities which could ultimately be determined by tonight’s preseason performance. Back-up quarterback, running back and cornerback are all up for grabs, in addition to reserve roles along the newly reconfigured defensive front.
