Charlotte, N.C. — Following violent riots in Charlotte Wednesday night in response to the shooting death of Keith Lamont Scott, members of the Carolina Panthers have reacted on social media to the events in the Queen City.
Scott, a 43-year-old African-American man, was shot and killed Tuesday by a black Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer, Brentley Vinson.
Wednesday's protest began peaceful around 6 p.m. in Uptown’s Marshall Park, but crowds later turned into a violent riot as tensions rose between demonstrators and authorities near the Omni Hotel on College Street.
Hundreds of protestors vandalized buildings, looted businesses and clashed with police, civilians and members of the media during the protest-turned-riot.
