In a statement released earlier today, the NFL announced it concluded that the Carolina Panthers did not violate the concussion protocol in their treatment of Cam Newton late in the game against the New Orleans Saints. Cam jogged off the field and awkwardly went to the ground near the sideline, leading many people at home to believe that he’d sustained a concussion. In reality, he had something in his eye, but the team in an abundance of caution had him evaluated on the sidelines anyway.
However, it is the explanation for the awkward lay down by Newton that is troubling.
