The shooting in Charleston, S.C. a few days ago is difficult to categorize. Some refer to it as a tragedy. Others refer to it as an act of terrorism and hate crime. All that matters are the innocent lives taken and the families that are now suffering and grieving.
During times like this, it’s not easy to find a place for sports. It doesn’t seem like a priority at all. But Jerry Richardson, owner of the Carolina Panthers, found a role.
The generous owner has decided to donate $10,000 to each of the nine victims’ families along with another $10,000 to the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church.
