In the 2015 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panthers’ front office raised some eyebrows when they selected safety/linebacker Shaq Thompson with their first round pick. The move was surprising because the team already had two of the best linebackers in the league with Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis.
Two years removed from that draft, Kuechly and Davis are still playing at a high level and with the defense playing a majority of the time with only two linebackers on the field, it has limited Thompson’s ability to get on that field.
According to Bill Voth of Panthers.com, that may be changing in 2017.
