Ever since Ron Rivera’s arrival as head coach the Carolina Panthers have run a 4-3 defense. This defense has been very successful for them as they have finished in the Top 10 in yards against four times since 2011.
However, this season will be different as it is the first time Rivera won’t have Sean McDermott as his defensive coordinator. McDermott moved on to be head coach of the Buffalo Bills and Steve Wilks was promoted to be his replacement.
In January, Wilks said he, according to ESPN’s David Newton, that he didn’t have any plans to switch from the 4-3 defense.
