The “Scissors” concept is one of the most interesting deep-passing concepts in football. The concept requires two receivers on the same side of the formation to run a deep post, and a deep corner route. The inside receiver will run the corner route, while the outside receiver will run the post.
The scissors concept is so effective because it can be used against multiple coverage looks – you can beat man to man coverage with it because it sets a natural “pick” downfield, and you can also use it to beat two-deep zone coverages like Cover 2 and Cover 4 because it puts secondary players in conflict deep downfield, which can be very dangerous for defenses.
