Before the Carolina Panthers acquired free agent defensive tackle Gerald McCoy on June 4, defensive tackle Kyle Love wore No. 93. Love has worn the No. 93 — as well as the Nos. 61, 77 and 94 — since he signed with the Panthers back in 2014. However, that changed this afternoon after the Panthers made this announcement below:
Love showed some love (*ba dum, tss*) by changing his number to No. 77 for McCoy, according to this tweet from journalist Bill Voth:
With the Buccaneers seemingly showing a little disrespect to McCoy by almost immediately giving his old number to his replacement, Ndamukong Suh, it was nice to see this gesture from Love and the Panthers.
