The Carolina Panthers have created approximately $13 million in cap space after restructuring the contracts of right guard Trai Turner and defensive tackle Kawann Short, according to a report from Tom Pelissero.
Before you let dreams of signing or trading for a premier left tackle get to your head, Joe Person of The Athletic has reported that this was more of a ‘saving money for a rainy day’ move than anything else. It’s highly likely the Panthers roll this $13-ish million over into next year’s cap space, which makes sense considering there are several players who will need to be paid in the future (ahem, Christian McCaffrey).
