This season’s edition didn’t have quite the praise for Newton.
Whether it was the lingering physical effects of his repaired shoulder or just the rust from not getting to prepare properly entering the season, Newton was the most inconsistent passer in the league last year. There were weeks when he was truly great, even early in the year games against the Patriots and Lions stood out as spectacular.
