CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- It was an emotional 24 hours for Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, from surprising a 10-year-old boy with a life-threatening disease to hearing 68-year-old special teams coach Bruce DeHaven died of cancer.
"I don't think it has resonated yet,'' Newton said on Wednesday. "I often say that I'm human. For a person to go through certain things and witness certain things and people, it's tough ... it's tough.
"Who am I to question God's doings? You just have to look at it as these are unbelievable people, great people.'
Ten-year-old Taylor Austin Deckard has advanced pulmonary hypertension.
